Exploring the Tranquil Beauty of Ohori Park Japanese Garden in Fukuoka

Nestled within the bustling city of Fukuoka, the Ohori Park Japanese Garden offers a serene escape for visitors. Established in 1984, this meticulously curated garden features an array of Japanese pine trees, artfully arranged bushes, striking rocks, meandering streams, stepping stones, a waterfall, a large tranquil pond, and winding paths that reveal breathtaking views of the designed landscapes.

For just 250 yen, the garden is a must-visit. One of the highlights is the mesmerizing sea of fog that drifts over the main pond every 30 minutes, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. During my visit, I had the chance to watch dedicated gardeners meticulously maintaining the garden, including raking the small stones into precise linear patterns—a practice rooted in Zen Buddhist traditions of Japanese dry gardens.

Another gem within the garden is the traditional sukiya-zukuri style tea house. Here, you can savor authentic matcha green tea accompanied by a Japanese sweet, offering a delightful cultural experience.
