How to Make Tissue Paper Flower Pom Poms
I made beautiful flowers with colourful gift tissue paper. It takes a bit of time, but it is much easier than it looks. I love the texture and 3D dimension they have, perfect for a centerpiece or to decorate any open surface for a floral event. I made these flowers for an afternoon tea party for Mother’s Day at my church, and I made some more with my own mother as a fun activity on Mother’s Day.

Each flower can vary in color and size; you can use the dimensions below as a guide.
For one flower pom pom, you will need:
- 2 green sheets (20 inches x 15-13 inches)
- 5 dark pink sheets (20 inches x 13 inches)
- 2 light pink sheets (20 inches x 13 inches)
- 2 yellow sheets (20 inches x 6.5 inches)
Extra materials/tools:
- String or thin wire
- Scissors
- Ruler
Steps to make the flower pom poms:
- Measure and cut all your colored sheets.
- On a flat surface, place 2 green sheets layered one on top of the other.
- Layer on top of the green: 2 dark pink sheets, 1 light pink, 1 dark pink, 1 light pink, 2 dark pink.
- Layer on the very top: 2 yellow sheets.
- Place all the sheets nicely together and centered.
- Fold the sheets like an accordion, each fold about 1 inch.
- Take out the yellow sheets and cut 1-inch fringes on both ends.
- Take out the pink sheets and cut a half-moon on both ends.
- Take out the green sheets and cut a curved diagonal on both ends.
- Place all the sheets back together.
- Use a string or thin wire to tie the center of the bundled sheets.
- Carefully pull the sheets of paper out, starting from the yellow sheets.
- Pull each sheet of paper until the last green sheet.
- Fluff out any flat sheets until you get your desired look.
- All done! You can place it on tables or use tape to hang it on a wall.
