Beautiful Traditional Korean Paper Lamp Shop in Ssamziegil, Seoul
I visited the most beautiful paper lamp shop in Ssamzigil, a shopping mall specializing in Korean crafts. The lamps, carefully crafted with hanji, a traditional Korean paper, came in many different sizes and colours.
Despite their delicate appearance, the owner reassured us that the lamps were sturdy and lightweight, thanks to being made entirely of paper, making them easy to carry and adjust for light direction. The soft light emitted by these lamps created a comforting ambiance—I wished I could fill my whole house with them! I ended up purchasing a small green lamp that easily fit in my suitcase.
Aside from the captivating lamp shop, Ssamzigil itself is a colorful shopping complex worth exploring, especially if you’re in the Insadong area of Seoul. Its architecture is fascinating, featuring an open courtyard and 4 floors linked in a continuous circular path, hosting a variety of shops, artistic workshops, galleries, and cafes.
